Registration 1

Why should I register?

PLEASE, HELP US to provide you with a better service.
When registering to ISIDe you give some basic information necessary to identify you as a unique user.
Your registration is valuable to us: to keep track of the number and quality of our regular users, permits us to get financial support and to provide you with a better service.
Two levels of registration are allowed:
PRIVATE USER: you provide a valid e-mail address and an ISIDe password (it is strongly recommended that you use, in ISIDe, a password different from the password of your e-mail address).
We will send you a confirmation message. After confirmation, you are allowed to freely navigate in ISIDe without restrictions.
RESEARCER: researchers are strongly recommended to register as such. This will help us to verify and testify the scientific relevance of ISIDe.

After entering ISIDe as a registered user, Captcha code checks will be disabled. Both registered and unregistered users have access to all the available data without restrictions.

Earthquake time

Is the earthquake time wrong?

Earthqakes are recorded in Universal Time Coordinated (UTC), very similar to the Prime Meredian time (Greenwich).
The italian local time (IT) is UTC+1 hour (+2 during Daylight saving time, DST).
If you want to find an earthquake you have felt in Italy around 8:00 am, look around 7:00 UTC (or 6:00 UTC, during DST).

My quake is missing! This night I have clearly felt a few shocks, but they are not reported on ISIDe. Why?

Have you looked for the UTC time (see previous question)? Fine!
It is very unlikely that National Network seismometers miss earthquakes felt by humans. Nevertheless, if the quake is very weak, it can be difficult to locate and eventually might be slightly misplaced.
Enlarge a little your search area to check if it has been located farther than you thought.
